This is a wonderful item when steering a boat in choppy water or tight places or both. It is well built and fairly easy to install, though you have to "figure out" how to tighten the bracket properly, and it's difficult to get the top cap off of the ball, to gain access to the nut. I do recommend the product and I've seen no rusting during ~6 mos of salt air use.

I use this for my center console boat, works great! It did take some time to install like everyone else has said you have to "figure it out" But after all is said and done my fishing center console boat is now complete

Perfect fit to my Schmitt Destroyer 15"

Fits the oval rim profile of my Schmitt Destroyer 15" wheel perfectly. I expect it would also fit a round profile with some effort and perhaps some metal adjustment, but designed for oval. One can adjust the friction of the suicide knob such that not binding, but not too loose either.
